1949 Cadillac Series 62 Club Coupe

Here are the most recent photos, posted on Flickr. Plenty of detail.

22,000 miles on the odometer, though likely closer to 35,000 based on close inspection.

I bought this car about 2.5 years ago from the third owner, who only had it for a year.

Working with Jason Thomas at OC Studebaker, we have carefully replaced all the worn items and made the car very roadworthy without impacting its highly original state. This is a mostly original car that has been maintained and serviced. It sat for many years in storage. You can see the photos taken when I bought it. Since then, we’ve carried out only the work needed to make her reliable and roadworthy without impacting the originality.

Car was covered in a column in an auto industry magazine, Automotive Design & Engineering. The magazine is read by people in the supplier base for the auto industry.

Interior

Interior is original. Dash, doors, seats, carpet, and in particular the headliner are all in excellent shape for such an old car.

Entire heating system rebuilt: main core, both under-seat heaters/fans, and hoses. Works beautifully.

Radio works, as does vacuum-assist power antenna.

Original owners manual in glovebox.

Paint

Paint appears to be mostly original, though I suspect the car may have had a partial lacquer respray on the front at some point. It has a “patina” of wear. I am not interested in repainting the car, as I prefer to drive them. If you want a trailer queen, you’ll want to paint it. I’m not going to do it.

Wheels

Period Cadillac wire wheels with WWW bias plies look fantastic and are in great shape.

Brakes, hubs and rear suspension bolts/rubber all rebuilt/replaced.

Gas tank pulled and resealed/cleaned. Plus, new sending unit, fuel line, and auxiliary six-volt fuel pump with a switch under the dash.

Powertrain

Carb was a heavily varnished original. Original manifold was cracked. All upper intake was rebuilt. Car now breathes very well and makes good power.

All front-end accessories have been redone: water pump, original generator rebuilt (matching numbers), belts, balancer.

Radiator rebuilt. Car runs very cool.

Distributor rebuilt, and new ignition leads.

Grand National and Lakewood Country Club Meets

Judged at Cadillac-La Salle Club Grand National. Still need to replace one valve cover, which is from an early Fifties car and not correct.

The car won an award at the Southern California Cadillac-La Salle Club meeting held at the Lakewood Country Club. I’ve only taken the car to two meets. I just drive her.

The car drives beautifully. Will cruise at 70+ mph. Can keep up OK with modern traffic, more or less.

I have a friend who needs to sell her ride. It’s a 2008 Harley-Davidson FatBoy which she bought new. It has been garaged most of its life while she was out in the sandbox serving our Country. It only has 1,550 miles and runs like a champ! Unfortunately she is too inexperienced for such a big bike so she must sell it (her words, not mine:). She is asking $15,000 or best offer.
